STILLWATER – The NCAA has released the wildcards for the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championshipa next week, March 20-22 at the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia. The Cowboys had nine wrestlers qualify last weekend at the Big 12 Wrestling Championships in Tulsa. Those nine finished high enough to claim one of the allotted spots at their weight for the tournament.
Troy Spratley finished second at 125 pounds, Tagen Jamison finished second at 141, Travis Teague was fourth at 149 pounds, Caleb Fish was fourth at 157, Cameron Amine gained fifth-place at 165.
The Cowboys had finalist at every weight north of 174 pounds as Dean Hamiti Jr. was the runner-up at 174. He was one of three Cowboys that lost in overtime, sudden victory or a tiebreaker. Dustin Plott was the runner-up to UNI’s Parker Keckeisen at 184. Luke Surber was second at 197 pounds, Wyatt Hendrickson clinched the Big 12 Team Championship for Oklahoma State winning at heavyweight 8-5 over Cohlton Schultz of Arizona State.
Oklahoma State will be one of 11 schools that will have nine or more wrestlers at the NCAA next week. Four schools, Cornell, Northern Iowa, Ohio State, and Penn State have all 10.
Reece Witcraft at 133 pounds was the odd man out as he lost two in a row at the Big 12 in Tulsa and was not awarded a wildcard from the NCAA for the tournament. Witcraft finished this season at 10-6. His record against ranked-wrestlers was no impressive.
Here are the wildcards for 133 as determined by the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee using the following selection criteria: head-to-head competition, quality wins, results against common opponents, winning percentage, ratings percentage index, coaches ranking and conference tournament finish.
There are four wildcard entires and one alternate.
