Parker Robertson is come so far from his first days at OSU and is now a valuable piece on defense, physically and mentally.

STILLWATER – Sunday morning and day eight of fall camp for Oklahoma State and the sixth practice, the first one in full pads, although roughly two-thirds of the team had cut off or rolled up the pants to just below the thigh pads. Offensive linemen all still had the full pants and the knee braces. The effort was outstanding, sometimes by practice six there is a drop off. The bonus is that the past three days has been much cooler that the first three.

This "thinking" defense worries me. The last time we had a multiple (thinking) defense, they were slow to react and miscommunication lead to receivers running free.

No need to be worried about that part, I promise.

Interesting year. Won't be surprised if we compete for conference championship or finish just below bowl eligibility. My guess is since our recruiting staff was good picking hs players, they will be as good or better with regard to portal since there's seemingly more useful college game video involving portal players. So I lean towards success.....but I am the eternal Cowboys optimist!

The Vikings and Broncos both had two of the best defenses in football last year where they have all the guys near the line of scrimmage and you either blitz a lot, or back out of the blitz and play 7-8 in coverage. From Robertson's comments we are going to be running something similar.

I'm really excited for this, it seems like where defenses are going in the NFL and think this could be huge for us as I don't think it's as big in college. If the QB doesn't know if you're blitzing 7 or only rushing 3 every play it creates a huge advantage for the defense. How do you set protections? Do you throw a quick pass to beat the rush, or something slow and developing?

Really excited if that is the direction of our defense, and sounds like it might be!

Agreed. That's why defenses with new coordinators at this level usually make a big jump in the 2nd year when players know the schemes well enough to react and not think as much. I like the direction but it will probably take a year to really produce. Hope I'm wrong though. Go Pokes!
