Oklahoma State Football

Editorial: Words and Opinions Won’t Fix the Oklahoma State Football Program, Just Work

I just read another story dating the origins of Oklahoma State football’s downturn. Those stories simply don’t matter.

STILLWATER – I understand the frustration. Cowboy football fans are frustrated with losing 10 of the last 14 games, losing the last 10 games against Division I FBS and Power Four competition. Going through and looking for the origin, the timeline, or the root of the problem won't matter. The advent of NIL, the transfer portal, the changing landscape of the Big 12, recruiting, all of it factors in.

The tagline for this article is correct. Words aren't going to fix this and neither is the current head ball coach.

Mike is a legend at this school, but it is time (past time) for him to hang it up. He is not equipped in the new age of CFB to be successful. If Gary Patterson and Bill Snyder and Bob Stoops and Nick Saban and an endless list of other coaches can't keep doing it at a high level forever, why would Mike be any different?

ah hem..... "and neither is the current head ball coach" was NOT part of the tag line. That opinion and attitude is what the article was about...... right over your head.

What if "IT" was already fixed, and your anger and outsider analysis just simply missed it?

We have a whole new team, totally new coaches and schemes, a never played before QB, and only a few months training under the belt.

The article was about stepping back from the ledge and begin to enjoy yourself again. Nothing we can do will change the immediate future (or long term future unless we get more mega donations), not even your rage against the machine.

I found it more than a little convenient to your point that you singled out Saben and Stoops, and not Belichick and Urban Meyer. Oh well...

Insanity - doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I have no idea what that is in reference to, since Gundy changed everything.

isn't insanity wearing blinders of ignorance while pretending to be an oracle?

or this: fanaticism = insanity

I was pondering our discussions of "out with the old (coach) and in with the new", when I came across this little tidbit from a KState journalist. Wasn't it just a couple short years ago we were battling KState at the top of the conference?

IMO, we'll end up with around 6-7 wins and a bowl invite, on an upward trajectory, and all will be right in Stillsville again.

anyway enjoy the quote:

"This is not a good Kansas State football team. It's poorly coached, the players seem to have little investment and their execution is dreadful. I actually struggle with whether Oklahoma State or Kansas State is worse. Fortunately, we get a game to decide that in late November. A game that may kickoff at midnight and be televised on QVC where other pieces of junk are sold." Tim Fitzgerald of GoPowercat.com
