very, very nice article, and I'm 100% in the Emo camp (well, let's call the OSU camp with Emo at the chuck wagon)... anyway, here's my two cents...
I love his offensive approach, but he's not in Denton anymore. If it worked all that well, then Holgy would still be coaching at WVU with a couple of national titles.
we must face this transition within the context of reality.
The gawdy QB stats from a walk-on and also an unheralded RB racking up 1,200 yards doesn't happen in the B12. Not these days. Regardless, he'll have better recruits to work with at OSU, so I'm certain we'll be successful offensively.
We need defense. We saw that this year, as bad as our offensive efforts were, the defense kept us in several games once they got acclimated to the system - who know what we could have done if we hadn't lost so much of the defensive roster.
The UNT defense was not impressive, I certainly hope he doesn't bring that guy along (perhaps that's unfair, given the NIL and roster he had to work with, but you guys get what I'm saying).
How far OSU can go in any season has always depended on how well our defense has played.
as they say, offense wins games, and defense win championships..... you've gotta have both.
I'm hoping Emo can bring both to Stillwater.
GO POKES!!
