STILLWATER – New Oklahoma State head coach Eric Morris is running through positions on his new staff, and, as stated, he is also having to deal with players on the current roster and retention there. It’s a lot to deal with at once, and the current players are in finals week on campus. One of the moves that Pokes Report has learned of today (Dec. 10), Assistant Athletic Director of Athletic Performance Rob Glass is not going to head up football strength and conditioning any longer. Glass, in his 21st year as the Cowboys head strength coach for football, it was later reported and confirmed by Pokes Report that Glass is considering working in the athletic department heading up strength and conditioning just not directly working with football. Morris is bringing his strength coach from North Texas in Bryan Kegans, who was also listed as assistant head coach for the Mean Green football program.

Glass has been more than a strength coach, he’s been an institution at Oklahoma State.

Glass had been at Oklahoma State since Mike Gundy was hired. Glass’ history with Oklahoma State goes even further back as he was an assistant strength coach for Oklahoma State during the Pat Jones era and trained Heisman Trophy winning running back Barry Sanders, as well as a lot of the other talented players in that era.

Glass was named the head strength coach for the Cowboys football program in 1989. He served in that position until 1995, when he accepted a position as coordinator of strength and conditioning at Florida. He became Florida’s director of strength and conditioning in 1998.

Rob Glass was in the 21st year of his second tenure as assistant athletic director for speed, strength and conditioning at his alma mater and is one of the central figures in the success of the program. Glass, one of the most recognized and preeminent strength and conditioning experts in college athletics, became the first strength coach to earn a million dollar salary.

Pokes Report
Bryan Kegans at North Texas heading up athletic performance.

Kegans joined the UNT staff as Director of Strength and Conditioning in December 2022. He added the title of Assistant Head Football Coach in March 2023. He serves as the lead strength and conditioning coach for the UNT Football program while overseeing the rest of UNT’s strength and conditioning staff that works with other UNT athletic teams.

Before North Texas, Kegans was the associate director of football sports performance at USC. He was at Oklahoma prior to that, so he had in essence linked up with Lincoln Riley, who is one of Eric Morris’ mentors
He was also a strength and conditioning coach at Texas and Texas Womens University. The Stephenville native played offensive line at Texas Tech from 2002-05.

Kegans holds certifications from CSCCA (collegiate strength and conditioning coaches association), SCCC (strength & conditioning coach certified), NSCA (strength and conditioning specialist), and NASM (performance enhancement specialist, corrective exercise specialist and functional movement specialist).

Pokes Report has learned that throughout the process of the interim season this fall where Glass served as the interim executive in charge of the West End Zone and football personnel and support staff that he had offers from other schools. We’ll wait and see if Glass stays or moves on.

Not unexpected. He had a great run, but the last several years both sides of the ball were being manhandled. That and the $1M salary can be better used elsewhere.

His million-dollar salary and unimpressive results in recent years had him sticking out like a sore thumb. This was the easiest termination to predict of the whole staff.

agreed on the tough crowd... he's one of the very best, ever and always.

I'm "shocked", is the best way that I can put it. I think that I'd probably choose to retire too rather than try to train a new HC.

Thanks for everything Coach.
