NFL Season Kicks This Week, Oklahoma State Officially with 22 Players in the NFL
STILLWATER – Quarterback Mason Rudolph, named the backup behind Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh by head coach Mike McCarthy, is the dean of former Oklahoma State players on active rosters starting his ninth season in the National Football League. The season began on Sept. 9 in Seattle with a Super Bowl rematch between the Seahawks and the New England Patriots won by the Seahawks 13-10. There is not a former Oklahoma State player on either of those rosters, but there are 22 former Cowboys employed in the NFL.
That number does not count former OSU players that finished elsewhere in college football like De’Zhaun Stribling, who attended Ole Miss and is on the 49ers roster.
Kendal Daniels (OU), Trace Ford (OU), Jabbar Muhammad (Oregon), and Thomas Harper (Notre Dame) are other former Cowboys players that are either on an active NFL roster or practice squad.
The official number of 22 Cowboys that played and actually finished at OSU puts Oklahoma State in a tie for fourth in the Big 12 as far as active NFL alumni. Eleven of those Cowboys will be on active rosters for the opening weekend. Then there are 11 players either on practice squads for teams or on injured reserve.
