STILLWATER – Tre Sterling began his college career at Oklahoma State relatively unknown. However, in just two seasons, have developed into one of the top safeties in not just the Big 12, but in the country.

In fact, in an article put out by Pro Football Focus, Sterling is tabbed one of the top 50 players in all of college football. He checks in at No. 50 and one of just four safeties on the list.

“Sterling is an instinctual player who puts his tape study into action. A prime example of this was his pick-six against Texas Tech last season: The Red Raiders had run their smash concept a few times earlier in the game, and Sterling reportedly picked up on this and declared, “If they run that route concept again, I’m stepping underneath it and running it for a touchdown.”

Sure enough, they ran it one more time. And he housed it.”

Sterling was tabbed All-Big 12 honorable mention following his junior season last year and was one of the top defenders in the conference. He ranked first in the league in fumble recoveries with two, good for No. 12 in FBS, as well as No. 2 in the conference with 5.1 solo tackles per game and led the team with 12.0 tackles for loss.

He finished 2020 third on the team in total tackles with 74, 51 of which were solo stops, which was second on the team. He also hauled in two interceptions for 78 yards and a touchdown, four pass break ups and a quarterback hurry. His two interceptions on the year tied with fellow safety, Kolby Harvell-Peel.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes, but apparently not good enough to be first team All Big XII despite his overall statistics. SAD!
