STILLWATER – People have wondered and speculated for months what number Oklahoma State basketball’s class of 2021 newcomers would wear. Well, wait and wonder no more as the jersey numbers were announced Wednesday evening.

Bryce Thompson, the former five-star out of Booker T. Washington in the 2020 class, is making the change from No. 24 at KU to No. 1 for the Pokes. That means OSU guard Chris Harris is making a change as he’s worn No. 1 since arriving in Stillwater.

In 20 games as a freshman, which included four starts, Thompson averaged 4.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 17.1 minutes per game.

Moussa Cisse, the former five-star forward in the 2022 class, is making the change from No. 32 he wore at Memphis last season to No. 33 for the Pokes.

He was the AAC Freshman of the Year this past season after averaged 6.6 points and 6.3 rebounds a game. He also blocked 46 shots on the season and was just shy of becoming just the fifth Memphis player since 1992-93 to average at least 7.0 points and 7.0 rebounds a game

Tyreek Smith, the forward transfer out of Texas Tech, is making the change from No. 10 with the Red Raiders to No. 23 for the Pokes.

Smith came off the bench in all of the Red Raiders 29 games this past season and averaged 2.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and was second on the team in blocks with 21.

Woody Newton, the transfer wing out of Syracuse, is making the change from No. 4 with the Orange to No. 24 for the Pokes.

This past season as a freshman, Newton averaged 3.5 points and 1.8 rebounds per game is 11 games for the Orange. He shot 46.4% from the field, including 38.9% from 3-point range.

apparently the number 1 is a problem, and likely should be removed from rotation.

It's pretty narcissistic when you think about it... not real helpful to team unity, IMO.

good for Harris taking one for the team.

Harris actually took two for the team.
I know there are rules, but do we really want to follow them now?
