Pokes in the NFL: Week 4

STILLWATER – Week 4 of the 2021 NFL season is in the books, which means it’s time to look and see how the former Oklahoma State football players did over the weekend. There were some pretty sweet moments, including a couple of Pokes getting on the board and helping their teams win.

We’ll start with our cover athlete for this article, Chuba Hubbard.

Chuba Hubbard: Carolina Panthers

Chuba earned his very first NFL start this weekend in the absence of Christian McCaffrey as the Panthers faced the Cowboys in Dallas. He led the Panthers in rushing with 13 carries for 57 yards, including a long of 14. He also hauled in two receptions for 14 yards on two targets. I don’t think it’ll be too much longer before Chuba gets into the end zone for the first time in his career, especially if Sam Darnold will hand him the ball and quit rushing it in himself.

The Panthers are now 3-1 following the 36-28 loss to Dallas and will host the Eagles this coming Sunday with a noon kick on FOX (check your local listing).

Blake Jarwin: Dallas Cowboys

As you read above, the Cowboys took care of business against the Panthers as they won 36-28. One of those Dallas touchdowns came from tight end Blake Jarwin, his first since Nov. 2019.

Jarwin currently has nine receptions for 81 yards and one touchdown on the season. Dallas hosts Rodarius Williams and the New York Giants this coming Sunday, with a 3:25 p.m. CT kick on FOX (check your local listing).

Emmanuel Ogbah: Miami Dolphins

E-Man had a solid game in the 27-17 loss to the Colts on Sunday. He posted four total tackles, two of which were solo stops, including one sack and tackle for loss and one quarterback hit.

Through four games, he’s posted 10 total tackles, five of which have been solo stops, 1.5 sacks and one pass breakup.

The Dolphins travel to Tampa Bay this Sunday for a showdown with Tom Brady and the Bucs. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT on CBS (check your local listing).

Matt Ammendola: New York Jets

The Jets picked up their first win of the season, a 27-24 overtime win over the Titans, thanks in part to kicker Matt Ammendola. Philly finished the game going 2-for-2 on FGs, including the game winner in overtime, and 3-for-3 on extra points. He’s 4-for-5 on the season on FGs and 3-for-3 on extra points.

The Jets and Falcons will have an 8:30 a.m. CT kick on the NFL Network, as they’ll be playing in London.

Chris Carson and Tre Flowers: Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks beat the 49ers this past weekend, 28-21. Running back Chris Carson had a bit of a down week as he ran the ball 13 times for just 30 yards and had one reception for just one yard. Tre Flowers didn’t record any stats.

The 2-2 Seahawks will host the Rams this week for Thursday Night Football. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. CT and will be on both the NFL Network and FOX.

James Washington: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers got beat by Aaron Rodgers and the Packers this past weekend, 27-17, with Washington posting his highest receiving totals of the season. He was second on the team with four receptions and 69 yards on five targets. Through four games, he has nine catches for 99 yards. The Steelers will host the Broncos this coming Sunday with a noon CT kick on FOX (check your local listing).
