STILLWATER – It is time to start the new semester. The College Football Playoff Championship Game between SEC rivals Alabama and Georgia is set to kick off on Jan. 10. Down in San Antonio, Texas, Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy is set to make an appearance at the American Football Coaches Association convention. Gundy has said there are a couple of coaches he needs to speak to about the opening for the Cowboys defensive coordinator job.

Appreciate this series Robert. Hope you're having a light case of Covid at worse. We came back from Scottsdale feeling bad but I tested negative.

Good for you. I had a light case. One bad day and then head cold. I go back to radio shows in person tomorrow. I tried to avoid it and went a long time. Traveling you have a hard time steering clear because it is all over.

The more coach Gundy refers to the work ahead as WE and not as THEY or OUT OF MY CONTROL his plan will fall on more receptive ears. Below is a good example of a positive approach.

"As I've said for a month, we have a logo we can be proud of now at Oklahoma State from coast to coast. Got an opportunity to do something special," continued Gundy on the theme. "We take advantage of it and find a way to continue to push forward. We can do something special. So I couldn't be any more proud of Oklahoma State, the administration, our players, fans that traveled to the. We had a great showing and obviously this is a great day for Oklahoma State."

Forgot to mention how good Dunn was in the game. I think you were spot on with those comments

It will be interesting to see if Gundy hires Patterson or someone else outside the program, what domino affect that might have with internal assistant coaches. Tough to balance external efforts at staff building/improvement with internal staff morale/ambition.

IMHO, he must promote Clements - there is no other option.

RA MG says he values loyalty but I think he values consistency and comfort both of those are 1 way streets, loyalty is a 2 way street and I just don't see that from him.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Gundy has long been loyal to staff and players. He has been so loyal to quarterbacks that it has had fans absolutely frustrated with him. He is loyal to friends and I can tell you the Gundy family as a whole has loyalty as a bedrock principle.

Loyalty to some players without question, best coach in OSU history again yes, loyal to coaches, if you mean he keeps position coaches as long as he can, sure but in terms of loyalty to coaches, Glass, ok the rest, not really. His family loyalty is great and totally irrelevant to this discussion.

Robert yes he stands by his staff, but he also has not shown an inclination to promote from within unless there is some reason he has to when it comes to coordinators. When you spend the month of December saying you didn't need to panic hire a DC because the whole D-Staff had built that D, then it seems a bit questionable when you are still looking outside for the next DC. Even if its only making sure you're not missing out on a better option it has to be affecting those on staff waiting to see the decision. And probably wondering if they shouldn't look elsewhere.

dude... get a freaking life... I was responding directly to 72, and commenting ON HIS STATEMENT.

I did not believe that further explanation was warranted, because 72 is a seasoned businessman and has a deep and full understanding of employee hiring and promotion. 72 ALREADY explained the 2 scenarios, and I simply responded to him that IN MY HUMBLE OPINION (IMHO), only one of those was truly viable (without creating much discord among the staff).

If you did not understand my comment, then you should have asked me to explain it to you.

How about you just quit trying to start fights ... that would be a huge improvement.

let me simplify for you, since the discussion went so far over your head.... one real option... and one disaster

IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.

read it then... because you are dead wrong. If you're not going to read replies, then don't attack others.

the mods seriously need to take you to he wood shed for a reality session, your continuous unprovoked personal attacks are intolerable.

guys, seriously, I should not have to be subjected to repeated attacks from this guy... he now seems to believe that I "deserve" his abuse.

I did nothing to him. Assistance please.

and I am so sorry that a couple of these types followed me to your board. I am doing everything that I can to try and make sure these guys have no reason to attack me, but they do anyway.

I sincerely apologize if I have done or said anything to offend you... that is not who I am or what I do.

If you check my profile, my posts have received the most blue-stars of any poster on this site, by almost double, the next poster.

It is not my intent to bother others.

Please accept my apology for whatever it is that you believe that I have done to you.

Knock it off, Polston31. We've ALL heard you. You made some points early, but now the only thing you're adding to the discussion is a public effort to discredit another poster.

You can stay out of it too. Tellin me to knock it off lol no one realizes I called this guy out because he has constantly hazed me and others and yes called him out not attacked him. Dude is not innocent like he is acting. Wish I would have saved the posts from the past cuz this dude has been a menace and no one ever defended me or the people we was being rude too. I'll call out a double standard all day. Him and that khabib guy at one point were double teaming up on me over sports opinions. Where were you then? No where. So again like I told them if you don't like what I am saying then don't read it and don't feel the need to respond
