Oklahoma State Lands Athletic 2023 Receiver Camron Heard

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is already seeing results from its elite prospect camp this past week, “The Show,” as the Cowboys have received a commitment from one of the participants, Camron Heard.

Heard is a 6-0, 160-pound athlete out of Furr High School in Houston, TX, and is listed as a three-star prospect in the 2023 class. He currently holds 15 offers, with Heard choosing the Cowboys over Arkansas, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Sam Houston, South Alabama, Texas Tech, Tulane and Tulsa among others.

Heard is a dual-threat quarterback for Furr, but like most of the schools that have offered him, Oklahoma State is interested in him as a receiver, skills he showcased at “The Show.”

Heard was one of the most popular receivers running routes in the one-on-one work during “The Show” as he has excellent speed and one of the best vertical jumps Monday night (June 6). He was especially fun on the deep ball as he got excellent separation.

This past season as a junior, Heard was tabbed the Texas District 11-4A-I MVP following a stellar season in which he went 48-of-90 for 714 yards and four touchdowns through the air, while rushing for 1,068 yards and 11 touchdowns on just 94 carries.

He was nearly just as effective on the ground his sophomore season as he rushed for 859 yards and eight touchdowns on 89 carries, while throwing for 351 yards and two touchdowns on 32-of-75 passing.

Heard is an athletic speedster who will be a great addition to the receiver room. On Monday at “The Show,” heard ran a 4.49 40-time, while posted a 36.6-inch vertical. Certainly, measurables Kasey Dunn can put to good use.

Heard makes the ninth commitment in the 2023 recruiting cycle, the fourth on the offensive side of the ball. He joins QB Zane Flores, OLmen JaKobe Sanders and Jack Endean, DEs Jaedon Foreman, Billy Walton and Ricky Lolohea, CB Dylan Smith and S Kam Franklin.

Another skinny undersized three star athlete.. I don't think Gundy will have any problem beating out Sam Houston and South Alabama for his services. He should fit right in.

James Washington was barely a three-star and 5-11, 180 pounds out of high school.

Justin Blackmon was less than 190 pounds and not ranked out of high school.

Dillon Stoner was barely a three-star and 5-11, 180 pounds out of high school.

Brennan Presley was barely a three-star and 5-7, 160 pounds out of high school.

Jaden Bray was barely a three-star and under 190 pounds out of high school.

I think I'll continue to trust Kasey Dunn when it comes to recruiting wide receivers.

Well said Lancaster.

When first offered I think,
Blackmon was a 2*
Washington was UR, then immediately moved to 2 *
Stoners rating froze once he hard committed and was off the market, yet the top player in OK in his class
Bray is a beast. Watch his very Blackmonesque end-around TD on ND.

As Gundy has said, "I don't know who does these ratings. I've never seen these raters on the recruiting trail."

I've seen better english composition skills from middle school kids.
Come on, man! Get an editor so you don't look so inept at journalism.
I know there are rules, but do we really want to follow them now?
