Injury Report for West Virginia has Sanders a Game Time Decision Again

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is likely to find themselves without starting quarterback Spencer Sanders in the regular season finale with West Virginia at Boone Pickens Stadium. As announced moments before this story was published by play-by-play voice Dave Hunziker on the Cowboys Sports Network from Learfield, Sanders had a limited week of practice and will be a game time decision on starting. If Sanders does not start then freshman quarterback Garret Rangel will step in with Gunnar Gundy backing him up. Sanders is expected to suit up and go through Senior Day festivities and could possibly play in an emergency even if he does not start the game.

Sanders, who leads the Big 12 in total offense with 303.3-yards per game and has been off an on since re-injuring his shoulder late in the loss at Kansas State. He did not play at all at Kansas and then came off the bench late in the game with Iowa State to lead OSU to the win. He did play last week at Oklahoma and was sacked five times and hurried another 11 times in the game. He threw a school record 67 passes for 381-yards.  Sanders is a red-shirt senior that does have an NCAA granted COVID year available to return next season.

The hits just keep on coming in what has been the season with the most injuries that anyone connected to the Oklahoma State program can remember. There have been 40 injuries that have impaxcted the two-deep on the Cowboys roster and dating back to the last week of spring football there have been 14 players lost for the season that were actually on the two-deep for this season. That is 14 out of a possible 52 players on the offensive, defensive, and specialist two-deep.

Jaden Bray with a catch against Texas Tech played in just three games this season and re-injured his thumb in two of them.

The latest additions impact the receivers position as Jaden Bray (thumb) and Bryson Green (shoulder are out for the West Virginia game. Expect Stephon Johnson, Jr. back from an ankle injury, Langston Anderson, and Cale Cabbiness to fill in at the receiver positions.

Bray is done for the season now and will be able to collect a red-shirt season. He is added to that list of 14 players gone for the season that were on the two-deep. There is also a multiple special teams performer on that list in Constantino Borelli (shoulder).

Those that were starters of immediate back-uups include guard Cole Birmingham (knee), corner DeSean Buckner (knee), defensive tackle Brendon Evers (shoulder), defensive end Trace Ford (knee), Cowboy back Blaine Green (wrist), safety Thomas Harper (shoulder), punter Tom Hutton (knee), defensive end Tyler Lacy (ankle), offensive lineman Logan Nobles (back), linebacker Jeff Roberson (foot), safety Nick Session (shoulder), safety Kanion Williams (shoulder), and offensive guard Hunter Woodard (head).

Along with Bryson Green out for the West Virginia game are offensive lineman Jason Brooks (illness) and wide receiver Talyn Shettron (hamstring).

The good news is the return of receiver Stephon Johnson Jr. and it appears running back Dominic Richardson will be available after completely missing the Bedlam game at Oklahoma..

I love how we inflate it by adding in injuries to guys that would have never seen the field anyway lol

That's only being fair to the players. No player should be forgotten or put aside after sacrificing their body for the team.

Feels more like Robert Allen doing it to have a reason for having such a down year. Like an excuse some would say. We have some injuries but as far as injuries that actually affect our season these numbers are inflated

Injuries have massively impacted our season regardless of who is included on that list. You can act like injuries shouldn't matter, but they do. There's a reason starters are starters, it's because they are the best at their position. When you lose multiple players that are the best at their position, quality of play will suffer. Just a fact, not an excuse.

They are probably a little inflated as I don't recognize a few of the names on there. And we could have the attitude of "no excuses" but truth is that injuries have cost us a couple games this season. Now, I will say that injuries are not the only cause for some losses, because in my opinion it's been a few factors (coaching, execution, game plan, etc) that have caused losses. But these injuries change what we can do as a team and make it harder to win. IMO if we were completely healthy then we lose two games or less and are in the big 12 championship.

Fire Dickey. Something has to change. Today is going to be bad. This place is empty! I bet the official number is close to 25k. Absolutely embarrassing by Gundy and Co.

HeyZero, what seat are you in? I'd like to see your Zero gear, or proof you're a Cowboy fan.

But alas, you won't answer cuz you're not here.

Exactly. The injured starters make an impact. The other dudes 3 deep down don't count

So how is the good Doctor from Enid doing these days, looks like his Suite over on the north side, I have seen a couple of games from the one next door, don't know why he would let the likes of Mr. Ed sit in there with them! Does he still go by OSU IM over at Orange Power? I still see they let him in without hand cuffs or leg irons!!! LOL

I was at the game. Stayed for the whole thing. Got soaked. Does that mean I'm a real cowboy fan? I also think Dickey needs to go. Does that mean I am now not a real cowboy fan?

I don't know. Are you an OU season ticket holder just pretending to be an OSU fan so you can go on an OSU site to bash players and coaches?
