Cowboys Liking Talent and Experience of Ivy Leaguers in the Portal
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State needs help on the offensive line and while you might get more years out of high school and even junior college recruits you are more likely to get immediate help out of transfers. The Cowboys feel Yale’s Nick Gargiulo can help and they offered the graduate transfer. The transfer portal is open this week to FCS players and graduate transfers of which Yale’s Nick Gargiulo is both. At this time we know Gargiulo also has an offer from Boston College. Gargiulo just earned first-team All-Ivy League honors in helping the Elis to an 8-2 record and the Ivy League Championship including a 19-14 victory in the game vs. Harvard.
The 6-5, 295-pound Gargiulo was a captain for Yale this season and started and played in all 10 games at center. That represented a position switch as he played in four games at left tackle in the 2021 season. The 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID. Gargiulo started all 10 games in 2019 at left tackle and played in one game as a freshman in 2018.
Gargiulo was recruited by primarily Ivy League schools coming out of Somers High School in Yorktown Heights, NY where he was a two-time Section All-League selection, a two-time first-team All-Section honoree, All-State, and helped lead Somers to a New York State Championship in 2016.
Gargiulo is a physical blocker that has good technique and seems to be equally efficient at both run blocking and pass protection. He studied Economics and Political Science at Yale meaning to me that this guy is pretty smart.
