“The Guaranteed Rate Bowl features the bowl season’s only scheduled Big Ten vs. Big 12 matchup with Wisconsin and Oklahoma State playing for the first time ever. That’s what Bowl season is all about, seeing matchups that don’t normally occur,” said Randal Norton, Guaranteed Rate Bowl Board Chair. “Under the direction of Coach Fickell and Coach Gundy, these programs will deliver an exciting and competitive game. We can’t wait to host the teams, their dedicated fans and families in a truly unique college football Bowl experience, when we transform a major league ballpark into a premier college football venue.”

The Cowboys finished the regular season with a 7-5 overall record and 4-5 in Big 12 play. They started the season 5-0, with non-conference wins over Central Michigan, Arizona State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff, then started Big 12 play 2-0 with wins over No. 16 Baylor (36-25) and Texas Tech (41-31).

They lost to eventual College Football Playoff selection No. 3 TCU 43-40 in double overtime, then turned around and beat No. 20 Texas in Stillwater for Homecoming, 41-34.

That’s when the wheels started to fall off for the Pokes. They got shutout at Kansas State, 48-0, lost to Kansas, 37-16 the next week, beat Iowa State in Stillwater, 20-14, lost to OU in Bedlam, 28-13, then finished the regular season with a 24-19 loss to West Virginia.

The Badgers finished the 2022 regular season with a 6-6 overall record, 4-5 in Big Ten play. Their wins came against Illinois State (38-0), New Mexico State (66-7), Northwestern (42-7), Purdue (35-24), Maryland (23-10) and Nebraska (15-14).

As a team, the Badgers are averaging 26.5 points per game, while holding opponents to 20.5 points per game. The offense is averaging 189.5 passing yards per game and 173.3 rushing yards per game, while giving up 202.25 passing yards and 103.2 rushing yards per game.

Braelon Allen is the leading rusher for the Badgers this season, tallying 208 carries for 1,126 yards and 10 touchdowns. Graham Mertz was the starting quarterback this year, going 164-of-286 passing for 2,136 yards and 19 touchdowns with 10 interceptions.

On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Maema Njongmeta led the team in total tackles with 88.0, including 10.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks five quarterback hurries and one interception and pass breakup apiece.

Fellow linebacker Nick Herbig finished with just 47 tackles on the year, but recorded 15.5 tackles for loss and 11 sacks.

So proud of the way this team rebounded from last years goal line stop in the CCG to edge out Baylor to take the SECOND worst bowl in the big 12 pecking order, while those chumps from Waco have to settle for the worst bowl. Guess who got the last laugh? Take THAT bears. Enjoy watching us on December 27th from your couches.

Last years game had attendance of 21k and the payout is 1,625,560. Definitely a low end bowl game but the matchup is interesting at least

Oklahoma State was the last team to be picked. might want to check those bowl tiers one more time.

Guaranteed rate is above Armed forces. Ou was announced last, but doesn't mean cheez it is a lower bowl

I'm definitely wasn't saying whose is the worst just acknowledging that the bowl is low end but the matchup of teams is good. Two comparable brands. The bowl sucks but the matchup is actually decent

Well, that's good I guess. I thought armed forces was above guaranteed. Either way we made a bowl game for how disastrous this team was this season. Hopefully Spencer and others play.

Yeah, but I thought this horsey who I call Mr. Ed GUARANTEED US THAT OSU was going to the FIRST RESPONDER BOWL, gee I guess he just doesn't know what he is talking about! By the way, I love Phoenix, one of my favorite places in the USA plus we are UNDEFEATED IN ARIZONA BOWL GAMES 5 - 0 ALL TIME!

Honestly think a lot of people did. Then when they started picking teams that have ran bases that are energized and excited it makes sense. OSU expects to be in much better bowl games. 7 wins is no longer acceptable.

Well I think a lot had to do with equal playing field. The last 5 games we were very poor just being honest. Wisconsin had a poor season in the big 10 west. These two teams are in fairly similar situations ending the year and it's a similar level of play between them. So it makes sense. This is really the bowl both teams deserved. 7-5 vs 6-6 middle of the road teams.

Looks like Wisconsin QB just entered the portal

If sanders stays we definitely should have the edge in the qb dept. but if not I would love this type of game for Rangel. And Ollie Gordon. And stephon Johnson. I've prepared myself already for a possible youth movement. The wv game was a little glimpse and it's encouraging to me.

Hey Mr. Insider, let me help you out here, the Big XII under Bob Bowlsby gave the BOWLS a huge amount of leeway in selecting teams, THERE IS NO PECKING ORDER BUD, UNLIKE THE SEC, which basically tells the Bowls which team is going to which bowl, they have an iron fist on bowl selection controlled by the conference! I think Yormark wants to exert a little more conference control in that area! If you don't believe me ask your lunch buddy Chad, he will confirm this!

Cool story bro.

Cool story bro, that list reflects the payouts from top to bottom! Again if their was a pecking order that bowls followed then OU and Kansas would be in Ft.Worth or Dallas, but, listen, I am educating you, the bowls have lots of leeway in the selection process so you can have teams that finish 3-6 in conference getting picked at a higher slot than what they probably should be expected to get!!!

Oh ya, got some really bad news for ya which comes rom an OSU player from Norman who has two close friends on the Zero U team! Expect anywhere from 15 to 20 players going into the portal starting tomorrow from Zero U. Many of them met with coaches last week and it was suggested that they look for a new home because they aren't in future plans, Sorry bub!

Joe, I think that is the bowl pecking order. those bowls select in that order. There has to be a selection order, or bowls would select the same team.

but as you say, there is no restriction on whom they may pick.
