Cowboy Baseball’s Campbell Named To USA Baseball Collegiate National Team

DURHAM, N.C. – Oklahoma State’s Justin Campbell will compete this summer for the 2021 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.

Campbell is coming off an All-American season for the Cowboys as the second-year freshman starred as a two-way player.

On the mound, Campbell made 14 appearances, 13 as a starter, and went 7-2 with a 2.57 ERA and 102 strikeouts in 84 innings of work. He recorded double digits in strikeouts five times.

Campbell also appeared in 30 games as a designated hitter or pinch hitter and posted a .269 batting average to go along with a home run, five doubles and 10 RBIs.

The 2021 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team will feature 48 players split into two teams, the Stars and the Stripes, that will go head-to-head in 11 games beginning July 2. Ten of the 11 games will be played in the cities of the Appalachian League, and the teams will square off in a game at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. on July 4.

Campbell is the 12th OSU player to earn a spot on a USA Baseball Collegiate National Team roster. Previous Cowboys who participated on a USA Baseball Collegiate National Team include Gary Kanwisher (1982), Gary Green (1984), Mike Day (1984), Robin Ventura (1988), Brad Beanblossom (1989), Jeromy Burnitz (1989), Matt Smith (1999), Ryan Budde (2000), Jordy Mercer (2007), Tyler Lyons (2008) and Andrew Oliver (2008).

In 2007, former Cowboy Jason Jaramillo played for Team USA at the IBF World Cup on a team made up of professional players, while in 2008, former OSU player and current pitching coach Rob Walton, coached the Team USA club that won a gold medal at the FISU World Championships.
