Oklahoma State Offers Up and Coming 2023 Quarterback Christopher Vizzina
Oklahoma State and Mike Gundy and Co. have offered another quarterback in the 2023 class as they extended an offer to Christopher Vizzina out of Birmingham, AL.
Vizzina took to Twitter on Friday to make the announcement.
Christopher Vizzina is a 6-4, 200-pound pro-style quarterback out of Briarwood Christian in Birmingham, AL. He’s currently a three-star prospect in the class and the No. 36 overall quarterback in the country.
He’s received 10 offers up to this point, but I expect that list to grow exponentially during his junior season. UAB was his first offer, but since this Oklahoma State, Duke, Georgia Tech, Houston, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Mississippi State and Troy have jumped on board.
Watch: Christopher Vizzina sophomore season highlights
Vizzina helped Briarwood Christian to an 8-4 overall record and had a very good freshman season as well as he posted 1,176 yards on 93 of 159 passing and 11 touchdowns. He also threw eight interceptions, but you can attribute that stat to youth.
When watching his sophomore season highlights, you can see Vizzina has a strong arm. However, despite his youth, he’s mature in the fact he goes through his progressions and isn’t afraid to hit his checkdown if the deep ball isn’t there. It’s always a great sign when a younger quarterback isn’t trying to force a deep ball when there isn’t anything there.
He’s also comfortable on his feet as Briarwood’s offense calls for bootlegs and options to keep defenses on their toes. So, even though he’s labeled as a pro-style quarterback, he’s mobile enough to make plays on his feet.
This past May, he was one of the top performers at the Elite 11 regional camp that took place in Nashville, and he’s already taken several unofficial visits this spring: Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State and Notre Dame.
