Spencer Sanders Signs NIL Deal With MAGZ Sports; David Shaw Talks NIL Value and Prominence

STILLWATER – The NIL landscape has taken off since the laws were passed on July 1, allowing college athletes to make money based off their name, image, and likeness.

Today, Spencer Sanders, the starting quarterback for the Cowboys, reported that he has signed a branding and agency deal with Magz Sports Group, a new collegiate athlete-based sports agency.

With his deal, he is provided with a full apparel line of various shirts, hoodies, hats, and sweatpants with his new custom logo and designs throughout the products.

You can find his apparel at Magzsports.com/spencersanders

It appears Sanders will do very well in the NIL market because he tweeted out his link at 2 P.M. today and just minutes after, he tweeted that the link crashed due to high volume. I have been told that it is estimated that the link was clicked over 5,000 times in the first 30 seconds of the link being live.

Magz Sports will also help facilitate Sanders with partnership opportunities, autograph signings, camps and clinics, and other various in person and online sponsorships.

This is very relevant to a quote that Stanford football head coach David Shaw gave at PAC 12 media days just yesterday in regard to Nick Saban saying Bryce Young, his set-to-be starting quarterback has already approached 7-figures in NIL money.

"A kid gets a seven-figure deal before he even starts a game,” Shaw started. That's fair market value? I don't think that's fair market value. That's Alabama value."

This is relevant to Sanders and just about every other starting quarterback or star player at successful power five programs. The money will be there for them to make, it’s just a question of what brand, company, product, or service it will come from.

This also links into the world of recruiting for football programs across the country. Whether coaches support it or not, NIL is a big deal to players and will be a major industry in the world of sports from this point. We have already seen athletes across the country put out some big numbers in terms of money such as a D’Eriq King of Miami, Ole Miss’ Matt Corral as well as the aforementioned Bryce Young at Alabama.

With companies such as Magz Sports representing athletes as an agency, the opportunities are endless for athletes of Sanders’ status in the community, both locally and nationally.

can we please NOT have a thread about every NIL deal that comes along?

that's their personal life, nothing to do really with OSU or sports.

or are threads like this supposed to be sort of like a gofundme page for paying our athletes?

I don't think there'll be a thread/post on every single NIL deal that gets done, but when it's the starting quarterback, or the starting point guard, it's going to be written about.

Given the new rule, it will be interesting to see what impact this has on sports overall (competitive landscape) and what innovative ways this will be used.

what about the next contract Sanders signs, and the next one and the 5th one.... what's the limit? When is it no longer relevant news? The first one? The 10th one? This is not the portal, which affects the team.

This is college kids rubbing their wealth in our faces.

That is your call. 1 can be too many, 2, whatever. You are totally in control of what you read.

In addition to what I choose to read, I'm totally in control of my opinions too, and I can share them with the authors - even if you don't agree.

How in the world would they know what people are thinking, if they/we (people) don't express ourselves?

If you don't ask for and insist on a better product, then you likely won't get one.

If I want to provide feedback to the authors, through the comments section, then I should be allowed to do so.

how about if you just comment on what you like and don't like, and leave me out of it, and let me decide what is best for me? Can we at least agree that you have no business telling me what to do?

Others want to know. Most people want to know, actually. I'm telling you that you are free to not look at it. If you go to a library and don't want to check out Harry Potter, you just don't check out Harry Potter. You don't throw a fit at the librarian that they have it on the shelf. Or maybe YOU do, since nobody can tell you what to do.

Alright everyone, let's just take a couple of deep breaths. Everyone's spoken their piece, and obviously have different opinions, so let's just move on.

give it a break already... 1) you do not speak for "most people", and 2) if you don't like my posts, then don't read them.

See how easy that was. I am going to tell you not to read my posts.

now.... will you stop with the silly threads telling me how to use the board.

Thanks.

The feedback from users is absolutely valued and very much appreciated, I'm just talking about going back and forth with the escalating anger.

I know. I can't figure out why it was a thing. Some people want to know and there is an expert on the subject that is a consultant here.

it was never "a thing". The "thing" is you telling me how to use the board.
