No. 1 overall draft pick Cade Cunningham had a hot start to his NBA debut with the Detroit Pistons Sunday night as they took on the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
Even though the Pistons fell to the Thunder, 76-72, Cunningham got off to a hot start as he hit both of his first two shots, both 3-pointers. He’d struggle down the stretch, however, as he finished with just 12 points on 5-of-17 shooting from the field.
But Cunningham definitely had some highlight moments to build on moving forward. The first two shots we mentioned, but with about nine minutes left in the third quarter, Cunningham had a steal and an impressive breakaway dunk.
Cunningham would also finish with six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals, one of which is featured in the video above.
Detroit is back in action on Tuesday as they face the Houston Rockets and rookie Jalen Green, who posted 23 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT on ESPN.
