How to Watch: Oklahoma State at Baylor

STILLWATER – It's (possibly) game week once again for Oklahoma State as they’re set to take on Baylor in Waco, TX. I say possibly because it was announced on Thursday three Baylor offensive coaches tested positive for COVID-19 and that the athletic department had shut down the football facilities. Baylor announced they still intend to play the game, but there’s still a lot of time between now and kickoff. Oklahoma State tests its players, coaches and staff Friday morning around 10 a.m.

Game time and channel has been altered, so here's everything you need to know to follow along with all the action of the Cowboys’ season closer with Baylor.

Oklahoma State (6-3; 5-3 Big 12) at Baylor (2-6; 2-6 Big 12)

2:30 p.m. | Dec. 12, 2020 | McLane Stadium

TV: ESPN (Clay Matvick and Rocky Bolman)

Radio: Cowboy Radio Network (Dave Hunziker, John Holcomb and Robert Allen)

Satellite Radio: Sirius Ch. 83, XM Ch. 83 and Internet Ch. 83

Internet Radio: OSU TuneIn

The Cowboys currently lead the series over Baylor 20-18, but the Bears currenly hold a 10-6 lead in the series in Waco, TX, with the Cowboys holding a 13-6 lead in Stillwater. The Cowboys will be looking to get back on top of the series as they haven’t beaten Baylor since 2017 and havent won in Waco since 2009.

The Cowboys are coming off a rather disappointing loss to TCU this past weekend, 29-22, in Fort Worth. The defense had a historic performance forcing five turnovers, but the offense just wasn’t able to make anything happen from them.

Oklahoma State is 6-3 overall on the year and is tied with Texas for third place in the Big 12 standings. A win Saturday would give the Cowboys back-to-back third place finishes in the league standings and mark their eighth top-three Big 12 finish in the 10 seasons played since the conference moved to a full round robin schedule in 2011. The biggest storylines for the Cowboys this season have been the emergence of the Cowboy defense and the injuries suffered by the OSU offense, in particular the offensive line. OSU's defense has held its first eight opponents to an average of 389 yards of total offense per game, which if the season ended today would mark the lowest average allowed by the Cowboys since the 2013 season (385). The most impressive statistics from the Cowboy defense has been its ability to score and to stop opponents on third down. The OSU defense has four touchdowns this year to rank No. 1 in the FBS, including three fumble return touchdowns (also No. 1) and a pick six. OSU ranks No. 3 in the country in third down defense with a 26.7 opponent conversion rate (36 of 135). It is also among the best nationally at applying pressure, ranking No. 14 in tackles for loss and No. 20 in sacks. On offense, the Cowboys rank among the top three in the Big 12 in rushing yards per game, while wide receiver Tylan Wallace is the league's leading receiver in terms of yards and receptions, both on a per game and total basis. The offense is balanced, as the Cowboys have totaled 1,686 rushing yards and 1,983 passing yards. OSU is one of just 10 Power Five teams with more than 1,600 rushing yards and 1,900 passing yards this season. The OSU offense has been hit hard by the loss of personnel this year. Starting quarterback Spencer Sanders was hurt in the first quarter of the season and missed the next two games, All-America receiver Tylan Wallace missed the game against Kansas State and the fourth quarter against TCU, All-America running back Chuba Hubbard has missed the last two games and eight offensive linemen have been unavailable at some point this year as well. Hubbard's backup, LD Brown - who has been performing at the best level of his career - missed the last two games as well. Dezmon Jackson, the third running back on the OSU depth chart, has provided one of the best stories of the Cowboy season while subbing in, as he rushed for 235 yards and three touchdowns in the first start of FBS career vs. Texas Tech and followed it up with a 118-yard rushing day at TCU. He is now the only player in the FBS who has gained more 400 rushing yards without losing a single yard. On top of the already long list of injuries, kicker Alex Hale was injured in pregame warmups before the Bedlam game, and has missed the last three games as a result. All that said, OSU's 6-3 record and third-place spot in the conference standings is made more impressive when considering the high injury rate the Cowboys have faced in an already challenging 2020 season.

on second thought.... we need this win to move into sole possession of 3rd place (over Texas).

yes, it's a moral victory, but hey, a 3rd place finish in the COVID season just might save Gundy's job.

I've said all this week this is a must-win game, simply from a perception standpoint. They have to go into the off-season with a win.

They were bailed out last season with Rodarius, Chuba and Tylan announcing they were coming back, but things were pretty bleak after the bowl loss.

wait just a minute.... weren't we just told that recrutingin will save us? Wait until next year? I swear that I heard that someplace.

besides, don't we still have a bowl game regardless of this game?

is that where we're at now, beating a 2-6 Baylor team is a "must win"? Cancel the game.
