STILLWATER – Last week Spencer Sanders made his 2021 debut. It was a week late after being required to sit out in COVID protocol for the Missouri State game. The debut came with eyes of fans, media, his own coaches and even teammates wanting to see if Spencer could take his growth on the practice field and in the locker room to the game field and competition.

personally I'm counting on Illingworth, but if "cool-hand Spenc" can deliver, then I'll be thrilled with that.

This article kinda made me think of something I have never thought of before. As fans the last couple years we have been disappointed in the coaches and the media writing articles about how good guys look in offseason practices but then on the field in the real game we underachieve. Gundy years ago made practices less physical to help with injuries but yet we are still constantly injured. The way pokes report reported all off-season was like big time improvement on offense especially from sanders. Run game was gonna be super awesome cuz we are legit 4 deep they said. No warnings of youth at receiver being a problem. But the season starts and all that goes out the window. So I am almost wondering if we need to structure practices differently. How do we look so damn good all off-season against our defense that everyone knows is good but it's so much different when the season starts. It's kind boggling. It's like we look better in practices than we really are

yep.... I was watching some game this past weekend and the announcer had some past tie-in with Miami and JJ... he was talking about how hard JJ worked the team in practice, and the players commenting that they loved playing in games because it was always easier than practice.

No one is saying the reason for his protocol.

If Sanders actually had Covid - not just exposed to Covid - he did amazingly in his first out of protocol.
