Oklahoma State goes from beating Texas last week in Austin, a team that rarely throws to the tight end and uses them for blocking. At Iowa State, Charlie Kolar and Chase Allen are a "big" part of the offense.

STILLWATER – Tight ends are a valuable position for most offenses. There were days when people like Mike Leach at Texas Tech and Sonny Cumbie at TCU forgot that tight ends were necessary. In fact, to some of the spread offenses that were prevalent in the Big 12 tight ends were non-existent. That is not the case anymore as everybody is lining up with tight ends. Oklahoma State calls there guys “Cowboy backs.” Oklahoma uses them more as unattached jumbo receivers.
