STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has welcomed in one official visitor for this weekend. Tyler Junior College All-American linebacker Xavier Benson, who started most of one season at Texas Tech before transferring, arrived in Stillwater with his parents. Benson was spotted in the hall of the football office with several of the coaches and staff members. He looks the part.

This past season he was the top defensive player in the SWJCFC for the Apaches at Tyler J.C. Benson finished with 120 tackles, 69 of those were unassisted. He also a .5 sack, 2 interceptions, and a forced fumble. Benson helped lead the Apaches to the SWJCFC Championship Game where they lost to New Mexico Military Institute that features a Cowboy commitment in offensive tackle Tyrone Webber.

Benson played in all 12 games and started 10 games as a red-shirt freshman at Texas Tech. He had 51 tackles for the Red Raiders, 4.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sacks, and several quarterback hurries.

Benson is 6-3, 215-pounds and would have two seasons to play at Oklahoma State. With starting linebackers Malcolm Rodriguez and Devin Harper both out of eligibility, Benson would give some maturity and experience to the position to go along with Lamont Bishop, a junior college product; and some talented younger players.

The visit will go through tomorrow and finish up on Saturday.
