Cowboys Rack Up 43 Academic All-Big 12 Honors

STILLWATER – The Big 12 announced its Academic All-Big 12 list on Friday morning and there was a considerable amount of Oklahoma State Cowboys that made the list. We’re going to start by honoring three Cowboys that finished the season with a 4.00 GPA: Matt Hembrough, Brady Pohl and Jake Schutlz.

There were 275 players named the Academic All-Big 12 team, with Iowa State leading the way with 44 selections, but the Cowboys were literally right behind them with 43 selections. The Cowboys also led the conference with first-team selections with 28. The 28 first-team selections set a conference record, and the 43 overall selections set a program record for the Pokes.

“First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
 
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.”
