Jaylen Warren Tabbed Finalist for Polynesian College Football Player of the Year

STILLWATER – Another Oklahoma State Cowboy is up for a national honor following the 2021-22 football season. On Thursday, running back Jaylen Warren was tabbed one of seven finalists for the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award.

The Award is given out by the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame to the most outstanding college football player of Polynesian ancestry who epitomizes great ability and integrity.

Warren transferred into Oklahoma State from Utah State in the spring prior to the 2021 season and made an almost immediate impact. He took over the starting role in the third game of the season following injuries in the running backs room and rushed for 218 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries and the rest is history.

He rushed for 1,134 yards and 11 touchdowns on 237 carries this season and was tabbed the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year and was an honorable mention for Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. He also led all Big 12 players this year with five Big 12 Player of the Week honors.

He racked up five 100+ yard rushing performances and three multi-touchdown games. He was pivotal in the 32-24 win over No. 25 Texas down in Austin as he rushed for 193 yards, most of which came in the Pokes’ second half comeback.

Warren missed the Big 12 championship game against Baylor due to injury, but he should be back in time for the Pokes’ Fiesta Bowl showdown against Notre Dame on Jan. 1.
