Cowboy Baseball’s Campbell Tabbed Preseason All-American
TUCSON, Ariz. – Oklahoma State pitcher Justin Campbell has been named to the 2022 Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason All-America First Team.
Campbell is coming off an All-American season for the Cowboys as a second-year freshman in 2021 where he starred as a two-way player.
On the mound, Campbell made 14 appearances, 13 as a starter, and went 7-2 with a 2.57 ERA and 102 strikeouts in 84 innings of work. He recorded double digits in strikeouts five times and tossed the ninth no-hitter in OSU history, achieving that feat against Kansas.
Campbell also appeared in 30 games as a designated hitter or pinch hitter and posted a .269 batting average to go along with a home run, five doubles and 10 RBIs.
A native of Simi Valley, Calif., Campbell earned multiple All-America honors a year ago, including second team accolades from Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game/Rawlings, and he was named an All-Big 12 First Team performer as both a pitcher and utility player. He spent the summer of ’21 playing with the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.
In his OSU career, Campbell owns an 8-4 record and 2.93 ERA to go along with 124 strikeouts in 18 appearances, and he is a career .313 hitter with a pair of homers and 17 RBIs.
Led by Campbell, OSU is ranked No. 7 in the Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll and set to open the season Feb. 18 at Vanderbilt.
