
Malcolm Rodriguez Named To Associated Press All-Bowl Team
STILLWATER – Another day, another postseason honor for Malcolm Rodriguez. On Thursday, the linebacker was named to the Associated Press’ All-Bowl Team following his performance against Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.
“Malcolm Rodriguez, Oklahoma State (Fiesta): Rodriguez had 11 tackles, picked off a pass and broke up two others as Oklahoma State erased a 28-7 deficit in a 37-35 triumph over Notre Dame.”
Rodriguez finished the season with 123 total tackles, 72 of which were solo stops, 14.0 tackles for a loss, 2.0 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries and the one interception in the game against Notre Dame.
The senior out of Wagoner, OK picked up multiple All-America honors, including the Football Writers Association of America, following one of the best defensive seasons in program history. He was also tabbed First Team All-Big 12 by both the league’s coaches and the AP, marking his third-straight season earning All-Big 12 honors, but his first earning First Team honors.
With the AP’s All-America honors, Malcolm became just the fourth linebacker in program history to earn the distinction and the first since Ricky Young in 1981. Also, the 25th overall player to earn the honor since 2008.
