A Recap of the New Offers Sent Out to Transfer Portal Offensive Linemen

The transfer portal has been about as active for Oklahoma State in the past two weeks or so than it has ever been. The position that has been the most affected by departures has been offensive line with Cade Bennett, Monroe Mills, and Hunter Anthony announcing their departures.

The Cowboys have also lost Josh Sills and Danny Godlevske to the NFL Draft.

To fill some of the holes now opened up, the Cowboys have gone to the portal themselves. In the past two days, two talented linemen from the FCS ranks have reported offers from Charlie Dickey and staff.

One of these offers is Mac Hollensteiner, who is coming from University of Georgetown.

Hollensteiner is 6’6 and weighs in at 310 pounds. He has been on the roster at Georgetown since 2018, meaning he has two years of eligibility remaining.

I spoke with Hollensteiner today to discuss how he felt about the offer. “It was great. Coach [Dickey] told me they got a great program there and need to fill in some gaps on the O-Line and they think I will fill that. All around good stuff, like a dream come true for me.”

In regard to how long it will take Hollensteiner to make a decision on his future, he said “Oklahoma State is definitely in the top two right now. I’m very excited about the opportunity. I’m hoping to take a couple of visits in January and make a decision early February.”

He said the other school at the top of his recruitment is Rice due to the “academics, coaches, and location.”

The second offer was Michael Shanahan, who has been a standout at UT-Martin.

Shanahan became a starter in the 2020 season, starting in all seven games of the season. In the 2021 season, he started and played in all 14 of their games.

Due to his efforts and performance, he was named to the All-OVC First Team and a 2021 HERO Sports Sophomore All-American. He is another who measures in at 6’5 310 pounds, which fits the mold of what Oklahoma State is looking for at tackle right now.

Most transfers that are looking around right now are in the midst of taking visits and making decisions, so for most of them, they will make commitments or decisions in the coming weeks. There is a decent chance Oklahoma State will know what transfers they will be bringing in by the middle of February.

Pokes Report will continue to monitor the transfer portal and possible entries from the current roster as well as possible incoming players.
