Oklahoma State Offers Stanford Transfer Running Back
STILLWATER – The search into the transfer portal for Oklahoma State continues as the coaching staff extends an offer to Stanford’s leading rusher this past season, Nathaniel Peat.
Peat, a 5-10, 195-pound running back and kick returner out of Columbia, MO, entered the portal earlier this week and has already received several offers, including Iowa, Missouri, Oregon State, Purdue, Washington State and Western Kentucky, with OSU being the most recent to offer.
He led Stanford in rushing this past season with 404 yards and three touchdowns on 79 carries, but Peat’s also an electric kick returner as he was named an All-Pac-12 first team kick returner by Phil Steele in 2021 and was named to All-Pac-12 second team special teams unit by Steele in 2020. He led the Pac-12 this past season with 663 kickoff return yards, averaging 24.6 yards a return.
Peat would certainly be a solid addition to the Cowboy roster going into Spring Football ahead of the 2022 season. He’d add quality and experienced depth as he’s entering his senior season, as well as make for an incredibly strong duo with Brennan Presley returning kicks.
The Cowboys are set to lose three backs following the 2021 season, leading rusher Jaylen Warren, LD Brown declared for the NFL Draft and Dezmon Jackson entered the transfer portal. Coach John Wozniak returns Dominic Richardson, Jaden Nixon and Zach Middleton, while bringing in two dynamic backs in the 2022 class, Ollie Gordon and CJ Brown, both four-star backs.
Depending on how the portal works this spring, Richardson is set to take over the No. 1 spot, with Nixon showing this past season he can fill that No. 2 spot.
