Malcolm Rodriguez Selected for the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl

STILLWATER – Following a stellar 2021-22 season, senior Oklahoma State linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez has been selected to play in the 2022 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Malcolm has been selected to play on the National Team, which is being led by former NFL head coach Marvin Lewis. Rodriguez is joined on the National team by Oklahoma State guard Josh Sills. Playing for the American team in the game is Cowboys safety Kolby Harvell-Peel. The American team is coached by former Chicago Bears player and NFL head coach at Tennessee Jeff Fisher.

The 10th annual game is to be played on Saturday, Jan. 29 at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, CA, and will be televised on the NFL Network. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.

Rodriguez finished the season with 123 total tackles, 72 of which were solo stops, 14.0 tackles for a loss, 2.0 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries and one interception, which came in the game against Notre Dame.

Following his performance against Notre Dame, in which he recorded 11 tackles, two pass break ups and an interception, he was named to the Associated Press’ All-Bowl Team.

The senior out of Wagoner, OK picked up multiple All-America honors, including the Football Writers Association of America, following one of the best defensive seasons in program history. He was also tabbed First Team All-Big 12 by both the league’s coaches and the AP, marking his third-straight season earning All-Big 12 honors, but his first earning First Team honors.

With the AP’s All-America honors, Malcolm became just the fourth linebacker in program history to earn the distinction and the first since Ricky Young in 1981. Also, the 25th overall player to earn the honor since 2008.
