Just a few weeks ago, I would say this story had no chance of being written but as college football goes, changes happen... constantly. One of those changes this season was the Oregon coaching staff as Mario Cristobal took the job at Miami. As does with most schools when their coach leaves, commits and recruits begin to look elsewhere as uncertainty looms. One of these commits for Oregon was Desoto’s Stephon Johnson Jr., who is a 6’0 180 pound wide receiver. Johnson announced his decommitment from the Pokes after roughly nine months of being committed.  The Pokes offered Johnson back in May 2021, when he was already committed so there was never much movement there. However, when he decommitted a few weeks ago, Oklahoma State was back in the mix, which led to his official visit this past weekend.
