STILLWATER – Huge news following Oklahoma State’s 37-34 win over Miami in the Cheez-It Bowl as safety Tre Sterling announced he was returning for the 2021 season.
“Would like to start by saying thank you God for putting me in this position and keeping me healthy. Thank you to my family, friends, and teammates for the constant support and love. Y’all mean everything to me. And finally to Cowboy Country, thank you all for believing in me and all the words of encouragement over the last two years. With that being said I have been discussing my future in this sport and at this university and have came to decision. I will be returning next year to play the 2021 season.”
This news also comes after linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez announced prior to the bowl game he was returning for the 2021 season as well.
Sterling had a great performance against Miami as he lead the Pokes finishing with 13 total tackles, eight of which were solo stops, 2.5 tackles for loss, one pass break up and 0.5 sacks.
For the season, Sterling finished the season strong with 74 total tackles, 51 of which were solo stops, 13 tackles for loss, four pass break ups and two interceptions.
Sterling will return as one of the Pokes’ leading defenders and will go a long way in bolstering the back end of the defense for Jim Knowles.
