Cowboy Baseball Completes Season Sweep Of Wichita State

WICHITA, Kan. – Oklahoma State defeated Wichita State for the third time this season Tuesday night as the No. 7 Cowboys were 12-6 winners at Riverfront Stadium.
 
With the win, OSU improved to 28-13 on the season, while the Shockers fell to 13-28.
 
Ian Daugherty had a big night at the plate for the Pokes, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and smacking the first home run of his career, while Griffin Doersching also drove in three runs.
 
Ryan Bogusz earned the win on the mound to improve to 2-0 as the righty worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief and struck out two.
 
OSU took an early lead in the second inning when John Bay delivered a two-out RBI single to left field to put the Pokes up 1-0. Bay finished the contest 2-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs.
 
The Cowboys extended that advantage in the third, this time getting a two-RBI single off the bat of Doersching to go up by a 3-0 count.
 
But OSU saw its lead erased in the bottom of the inning as the Shockers rallied for five runs, three of those unearned as the result of an error.
 
Trailing 5-3, the Pokes went back on top with a huge fifth. After back-to-back singles to open the frame, Doersching delivered his third RBI of the game with a double, and the tying run scored on an error to make it 5-5. Up next, McLean smoked a double into the right-center field gap to put the Cowboys ahead by a run.
 
The visitors weren't done. Following a sacrifice fly by Bay, Ian Daugherty stepped to the plate and smashed his first-career home run, a two-run shot to left field that made the score 9-5.
 
The Cowboys added an insurance run in the eighth on a single by Daugherty and two in the ninth as Marcus Brown and Jaxson Crull delivered back-to-back RBI doubles.
 
OSU returns to action Friday when they open a series at No. 6 Texas. The opener is set for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch.
