Hear Morgan Day on Home Run Momentum and Savoring the Success
STILLWATER – Morgan Day got the Cowgirls the win in the circle in Oklahoma City earlier this month pitching a sterling final five innings in the Big 12 Championship Game upset of No. 1-ranked Oklahoma. In game two of the Stillwater Super Regional, Day, in the words of head coach Kenny Gajewski gave the Cowboys “a chance to win” and they did with a 5-1 victory and a two-game sweep of No. 10 Clemson.
Day is part of this year’s power couple in the Oklahoma State athletic department as her hometown sweetheart from Tuscola, Ill. and boyfriend Hunter Woodard is the starting right guard for the Cowboy football team.
Day laughed when I told her I’d dubbed them the power couple for this school year.
“He’ll be in Oklahoma City for the World Series,” Day added of Woodard.
So will Day and the Cowgirls and the graduate transfer and right-handed pitcher that was a big success at Illinois State is really trying to memorize what she is experiencing now at Oklahoma State.
“It’s kind of crazy,” Day said in the postgame. “I’m really proud of where I came from, but where I came from, admission was free and the people in the stands were parents and alumni. This is why I came here. The stage just keeps getting bigger, but it takes actually experiencing it to realize this is what I came here for. You don’t actually know what to expect until you experience it. It’s all surreal and I’m trying to soak up every second of it.”
All of Oklahoma State is doing the same thing.
