Christian Encarnacion-Strand Called Up to Double-A Wichita
STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State standout Christian Encarnacion-Strand is already on the move to the next level just 74 games into his first full year as a pro ball player.
It was announced Thursday Encarnacion-Strand was being called up to the Wichita Wind Surge, the Double-A affiliate for the Minnesota Twins.
In the 74 games with the Single-A Cedar Rapids Kernels, Encarnacion-Strand hit .296 with 87 hits, 57 runs scored, including 68 RBIs, 23 doubles and 20 home runs. He struck out 85 times in 294 at-bats and drew 30 walks.
Encarnacion-Strand was tabbed the DH in his first game with the Wind Surge on Thursday evening, helping them win a third-straight game, 11-5 over the Arkansas Travelers. He finished the game going just 1-for-5 with one strikeout, but his lone hit was a two-RBI double.
There are still two more games in this homestand against the Travelers, with Friday’s first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. CT. Plenty of time for Cowboy fans to make their way up to Wichita to watch a former Cowboy at the next level.
