Big 12 Baseball Schedule Format Still Being Formulated
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State baseball fans are anxiously awaiting the news about when they can make their plans to come to the corner of Washington and McElroy and check out the first official game in brand new O’Brate Stadium. That date wasn’t out but the format for a Big 12 baseball schedule looked to be out when the co-managing editor of D1 Baseball Kendall Rogers tweeted this on Thursday, Jan. 7.
Rogers is likely going to end up being right or very close to it, but a check with Oklahoma State head coach Josh Holliday produced news that the process is still underway to lock down and put together a proposal for the Big 12 athletic directors to review and vote on.

Holliday is being very careful and thoughtful about the process as he is with just about every task he’s involved in. Holliday is an anxious as anyone. It was just days before his team was going to open O’Brate Stadium last March with a conference opening series against TCU that the bottom fell out of college athletics. Since then, his team has moved into the elite facility that is likely the best in college baseball. Oklahoma State has scrimmaged and trained in the new home of Cowboy baseball, but coaches, players, and fans alike can’t wait for the first game in the new stadium.
Students will not be back on campus in Stillwater until next weekend and classes for the spring semester commence on Jan. 19. That is when the baseball team will be back in the facility and start practicing for the opening game. By then we should know the schedule and format for the Big 12. It should be approved and we could know what non-conference games will be played.
