yeah, those Bugeater teams were back when there weren't any scholarship limits.
Once the stopped teams like the Huskers and the Goons from recruiting kids just to keep them on the sideline away from other teams, then things started to balance out somewhat.
Then when the SW conference merged and they created that stupid North/South conference alignment, then Nebraska lost their access to the Texas recruits with some of the kids that might have left the SW conf for the B8, now staying closer to home at Collie Station, and Wacko.
Once they left the B12 then their access to Texas recruits dried up completely. IMO, it has less to do with the coaches and more to do with allowing the kids to play occasionally in front of their family and friends, which has helped OSU tremendously.
Which is why I will always oppose a N/S conf alignment split. Every team in the conf needs to have comparable access to playing frequently in Texas (at one of those schools, TCU, TT, BU, UH)
Which is also why I suggest some rotation that gets every conf team to Orlando on a fairly regular basis.
