In a not so shocking move, Oklahoma State star safety Kolby Harvell-Peel has announced on Twitter that he will enter the 2021 NFL Draft. This is a decision he’s been has been toying with over the past few weeks following the bowl win over Miami.

Harvell-Peel had a breakout sophomore season in 2019 where he raked in 71 tackles, 13 pass deflections, 2 forced fumbles, and 5 interceptions. His season ended on a dull feeling as he tore his ACL on the final play of the regular season against Oklahoma.

In his three-year career with the Cowboys, Harvell-Peel accumulated 167 total tackles, 127 which were solo. He also finished with 7 interceptions, 21 total pass deflections, and 3 sacks.

His 2020 season was a bit rocky as he dealt with injuries throughout the season, causing him to miss most of the Texas game and the entirety of the Kansas State game.

Mock drafts before the 2020 season and in the early season projected Harvell-Peel to go somewhere around the third round, but more recent ones suggest he may go sometime on day three. It is not sure how much his injuries will affect his stock but when he is healthy, there have not been many better than him.

When Kolby came out of A&M Consolidated high school in the 2018 class, he was ranked as a low three-star prospect and the No. 77 ranked safety in the nation. He was the No. 969 ranked prospect nationally.

Kolby has been one of the premier playmakers under Jim Knowles the past three seasons and will surely be missed in the locker room. He is also  one of the more high energy guys both on and off the field.

Kolby joins Rodarius Williams, Amen Ogbongbemiga, and Calvin Bundage as the defensive Cowboys to delcare for the draft this year. It is also expected that Cameron Murray will move on from the Cowboys.

Coming back for the 2021 season though is Malcolm Rodriguez, Tre Sterling, Christian Holmes, as well as others who were expected to stay such as Tanner McCalister, Jarrick Bernard, Jason Taylor and the rest of the underclassmen.
