Postgame Notes
- True freshman Garret Rangel made his first career start at quarterback for Oklahoma State. He went 27-for-40 for 304 yards and two touchdowns through the air. His 304 yards is the seventh most by a freshman in program history and most by a freshman quarterback since Wes Lunt had 324 yards on Oct. 27, 2012. It was also the second most by a true freshman making his first career start, behind Aso Pogi’s 328 yards against Iowa State in his first start in 2000.
- Rangel and Stephon Johnson Jr. connected on an 8-yard touchdown pass at the 9:59 mark in the second quarter. It marked the first career touchdown pass for Rangel and first touchdown reception for Johnson Jr.
- Oklahoma State’s 15-play touchdown drive in the second quarter is tied for the second-longest scoring drive in terms of plays this season.
- Bryson Green surpassed his previous career high for receptions at the 6:19 mark in the second quarter. He finished with nine catches for 105 yards, marking the third time this season he has topped 100 receiving yards in a game this season.
- Langston Anderson recorded his first reception this season in the first quarter against Kansas. He finished with career highs in receptions (3) and receiving yards (61).
- Tanner Brown moved to 15-for-16 on field goal attempts this season after converting a 35-yard try against Kansas. Brown also continued his consecutive PATs made streak, which now stands at 72 and is the seventh-longest streak in program history.
- Jason Taylor II entered the game leading the Big 12 and No. 12 in the nation averaging 5.5 solo tackles per game. He recorded nine solo stops against Kansas, while setting a career high in tackles with 11 total stops.
- Kendal Daniels tied his career high with 11 tackles, including eight solo stops, against Kansas.
- Oklahoma State was without key players against Kansas including, Spencer Sanders, Braydon Johnson, Jaden Bray, Hunter Woodard, Tom Hutton and Thomas Harper.
- Through nine games, OSU has had 42 passing plays go for 20 or more yards.
- Jaden Nixon’s 35-yard touchdown reception marked the longest catch of his career and also set a new career high in receiving yards.
- John Paul Richardson has recorded two or more receptions in 11 straight games, dating to Dec. 4, 2021.
- Brennan Presley has recorded at least one reception in 23 of the past 24 games, dating to Dec. 29, 2020.
- This is the first time OSU has lost back-to-back games since the last two games of the 2019 season.
