STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s recruiting weekend continues to pay dividends as standout Iowa transfer receiver Arland Bruce IV just announced his commitment to the Pokes.

This commitment comes less than week after the Cowboys extended the offer, as well as while Bruce IV is in Stillwater on an official visit.

“I’m heading home (Kansas City) now and I will be back on Monday to get ready and start school with classes on Tuesday,” Bruce said as he spoke with Pokes Report’s Robert Allen.

Bruce IV was very solid during his time with the Hawkeyes. A very versatile athlete, the soon-to-be-junior played in 25 games, starting in 12, in his two seasons. Checking in at 5-10, 198 pounds, Bruce IV caught 19 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown this past season, averaging 9.8 yards per reception. He also rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.

As a true freshman in 2021, Bruce IV hauled in 209 yards and one touchdown on 25 receptions, as well as 10 carries for 65 yards and three touchdowns.

He’ll be a slot receiver for the Pokes, with his size and physicality allowing him to operate some out of the backfield as well.

He finished his high school career up at Ankeny, Iowa, where he helped lead them to a state championship and was named All-State by the Des Moines Register newspaper. Ankeny finished 11-1 and in six games, Bruce IV carries the ball 81 times for 660 yards and eight touchdowns, along with 30 receptions for 451 yards and five touchdowns.

His previous high school years were spent in the Kansas City-area at Olathe North High School, where as a junior he was named the Kansas City Metro Player of the Year. His junior season, North finished 10-3, with Bruce IV rushing for 2,479 yards and 43 touchdowns, while passing for 404 yards and five scores. As a sophomore he rushed for 1,379 yards as a sophomore, with 1,209 passing yards and 35 total touchdowns. He even rushed for over 800-yards as a freshman with five touchdowns.

Bruce IV marks the third transfer receiver commitment for the Pokes, as he joins Washington State transfer De’Zhaun Stribling and George Fox (DIII) transfer Leon Johnson III. The Cowboys also landed a commitment on Saturday from 2023 Enid (OK) HS receiver, Tykie Andrews.

Hard to believe we may be more loaded at wide receiver when this is all over than we were before, and that's saying something!
