Oklahoma State Places Multiple on Preseason All-Big 12 Baseball Team

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is well-represented on the Preseason All-Big 12 baseball team ahead of the 2023 season.

Transfer pitcher Juaron Watts-Brown was tabbed both the Big 12 Preseason Pitcher of the Year and Preseason Newcomer of the Year, as well as being listed a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-Big 12 team.

Pitcher/infielder Nolan McLean was also a unanimous selection, while infielders Marcus Brown and Roc Riggio were also preseason all-conference selections.

Preseason Freshman of the Year

Watts-Brown was a Freshman All-American this past season at Long Beach State, as he went 4-4 on the season with a 3.68 ERA in 15 appearances, 12 of which were starts. On the season, he posted an impressive 111 strikeouts in 73 1/3 innings. He left with a couple of school records as he posted the first complete game no-hitter in program history, as well as 13.62 strikeouts per nine innings.

As for McLean, he’s coming off an impressive sophomore season which garnered All-America honors. He hit a team-high 19 home runs, while hitting .285 on the season with 47 RBIs and 16 doubles. On the mound, he recorded 39 strikeouts and a 2-1 record with five saves in 25 1/3 innings. He returns to Stillwater for another season after being selected with the first pick of the third round of the 2022 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles.

Marcus Brown started 61 games this past season as a sophomore for the Pokes. He posted an impressive .316 batting average with four home runs, 15 doubles and 31 RBIs.

As for Riggio, he had an impressive freshman season in which he was tabbed a Freshman All-American. He posted a .295 batting average with 11 home runs, 14 doubles and 47 RBIs.
