WICHITA, Kan. – The No. 2/2 Oklahoma State softball team suffered its third loss of the season and its first since March 10 in an 8-7 shootout at No. 22/25 Wichita State on Tuesday night at Wilkins Stadium.

With the loss, OSU fell to 32-3, including a 10-2 record against top-25 opponents, while WSU improved to 31-7.

Wichita State struck first with a four-run second inning. The Cowgirls immediately responded with a three-spot in the third. Rachel Becker notched an RBI single for OSU's first run of the game, while a sacrifice fly from Tallen Edwards and an RBI base knock from Kiley Naomi cut the deficit to one.

Following a scoreless third inning from Ivy Rosenberry, who went 3.1 innings against WSU, the Pokes took the lead in the fourth.

Two consecutive singles and a walk loaded the bases for Megan Bloodworth, who tied the game with an RBI groundout that scored Chyenne Factor. Katelynn Carwile capitalized on a passed ball as she sprinted home to give OSU the lead, 5-4.

Wichita State posted a four-run fourth inning to retake the lead, 8-5.

Showing no quit, the Cowgirls struck back with a two-run fifth inning to trim the deficit to one. Morgyn Wynne notched an RBI double, then Factor followed with a single that scored Wynne for Oklahoma State's seventh and final run of the day.

The OSU comeback fell short as the Cowgirls went down in order in the top of the seventh for their third loss of the season.

Despite the loss, the Cowgirls posted double-digit numbers in the hit column for the 17th time this season; Wichita State also notched double-digit hits, which marks the third time this season that both OSU and its opponent each had 10 or more hits.

The Pokes head straight to Lawrence, Kansas to resume Big 12 play against the Jayhawks from April 6-8. Game one of the three-game conference series is set for Thursday at 5 p.m. CT on ESPN+ and The Varsity Network.
