STILLWATER – In the closing game of its four-game homestand, Oklahoma State suffered a 13-6 loss to Wichita State Tuesday night at O'Brate Stadium.

With the result, the 11th-ranked Cowboys fell to 22-8 on the season, which includes an 18-3 mark at home. Wichita State moved to 17-11.

Eight pitchers took the mound for the Pokes Tuesday, including four freshmen in Brennan Phillips, Michael Benzor, Kade Shatwell and Gabe Davis.

Ryan Bogusz made his first start of the season and worked two innings, allowing two runs on five hits to fall to 0-1.

The Cowboys matched WSU with 13 hits, with David Mendham, Carson Benge, Colin Brueggemann and Tyler Wulfert collecting two apiece.

Wulfert had a pair of doubles, finishing play 2-for-4, and Chase Adkison led the RBI push with two.

Payton Tolle sparked the charge for the Shockers, posting a two-run homer in the first inning.

WSU got in a groove in the fourth inning, recording five runs from a Kyle McDonald RBI single and a Brock Rodden grand slam to extend its lead to 7-0.

The Cowboys responded in the bottom of the inning with three runs of their own as Marcus Brown drove in a run with a groundout and Adkison delivered a two-RBI single.

OSU tacked on an unearned run in the sixth inning on a Brennan Holt sacrifice fly to make the score 7-4 and nearly tied the score when Mendham sent a towering fly ball to deep center field that was caught at the wall, inches shy of a three-run homer.

The Shockers added six runs across the seventh and eighth inning to regain control of the scoreboard, and OSU plated its final two runs in the eighth on back-to-back RBI singles by Mendham and Nolan Schubart, who extended his streak of reaching base safely to 20 games.

OSU will take a one-day break before returning to Big 12 action Thursday at TCU. The series opener is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch.
