STILLWATER – Kenny Gajewski said it in the press conference right after his Cowgirls were eliminated from the 2023 Women’s College World Series.

“We’ve already committed some kids out of the portal,” Gajewski said. “We’ve got a really good class coming in. I’ll stay active in the portal. I’ll stay active in NIL. If you’re out there, don’t hesitate because I’m coming at you. This is tough. This is getting tough. We’re loaded and I’m ready to go.”

The newest Cowgirl out of the transfer portal signed with Oklahoma State on Friday (June 23) in Macy Graf, an infielder from Mississippi State that played in 40 games, making 30 starts primarily at third base as a true freshman for the Lady Bulldogs.

The 5-5 left-handed hitter is coming back closer to home as she grew up and played high school softball in Texas at atheltic powerhouse Aledo, just outside of Fort Worth. Graf was ranked No. 43 in the 2022 senior class by Extra Innings Softball and was considered the No. 5 infielder nationally.

Graf’s team at Aledo was the Texas 5A State Runners-Up and area champions in 2019. She is a two-time all-state selection and 2019 Fort Worth Star-Telegram All-Area Newcomer of the Year. Graf was also named Offensive Player of the year in 2019 after batting .519 as a freshman … hit .522 as a sophomore and .457 as a junior earning Texas State Sports Writers Association all-state honors. Her senior year she earned all-state honors while leading her team to the 5A state championship game in 2021. Graf batted .372 with seven homers, seven doubles, 13 steals and 34 walks to post a .538 on-base percentage during the state tournament on her way to all-tournament honors.

We know what Graf will do on those Broken Bow retreats.

She carried her high school exploits right on to her collegiate career. For Mississippi State she hit .291 (25-for-86) on the year, was fifth on the team in runs (22), reached base in 30 games, including opening her overall career with a 17-game streak and her SEC career with a 10-game streak. Graf was second on the team in hit-by-pitches (5) and tied for third in walks (20). A big-time athlete, Graf went 6-for-7 on stolen bases which was third on the team.

She will fit in nicely as Oklahoma State has openings at shortstop and second base for next season. You’ll like this too, Graf was also a member of the Aledo Anglers, her high school’s fishing team, and was a regional finalist in fishing as a sophomore.
