Charlie Dickey and Preston Wilson Agree the Oklahoma State Offensive Line will be Better

It's do or die time for Coach Dickey this season. He's coaching for his job IMO.

One of my first conversations I had with Coach Dickey was how impressed I was with the amount of players that he has coached that have gone on to the next level. I look forward to what a healthy offensive line brings this year. We are fortunate to have him and his family here at OSU. Thanks for the insight. Can't wait to read Part II.

Good offensive lines play together long enough to become a unit, and to know exactly how a guy next them is going to react in every situation.

Many years ago, Phil Steele ran an article about some regression analysis some stat geeks did on every single known stat in college football to determine the best predictor of a team's final W/L record in the pre-season.

That stat? Returning accumulated OL starts. OSU has 129 this year, UTN leads the league with 147. OSU is 7th in the league and there is a great slide down as you go done the list.

Dickey and OSU has had horrible luck with injuries, to the point I wonder what is going on with our strength and conditioning program, and practice routines.

If you go back and look, in 2021 we started off injured in the OL, starting at the Boise St game we had about 5 games in a row we had the same 5 starters, our run game flourished.

We have had some other smaller stretches of health over the last few years and again the OL did ok. OSU has not had the depth the last few years to lose 60% of its offensive line or play with guys at 70% to maintain offensive efficiency.,

Against Tulsa at home a few years ago we lost 2 starters for most of the season.

If you believe these things average out? OSU is due for a healthy OL, it is absolutely critical. Getting some health and allowing the unit to develop in to a unit will be one of the keys to the season.
