Tylan Wallace Returns Punt for Ravens' Walk-off Win
It was a moment for the ages for former Oklahoma State star receiver, Tylan Wallace, as he called game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon.
With just over eight minutes left in overtime, Wallace, who was in for the injury Devin Duvernay, fielded a punt at the Ravens’ 25-yard line and proceeded to take it all the way back to the house.
“Going into it with [Devin Duvernay] going down, me having to step up into that role, obviously I haven’t had too many in-game punt returns,” Wallace said following the game. “So, main thing for me, especially with the weather, I was like ‘I just need to catch it, first and foremost,’ but on that play, we had the return set up and I was like ‘this is a perfect opportunity for me to put the game away.’ Shoutout to the guys blocking for me, it was wide opening. So, I appreciate them helping me out and I just saw the crease and I took it. It just feels great to be able to make a difference in the game.”
The fourth-round pick is still trying to make a name for himself in the NFL and this punt return is going to go a long way in doing do. Through seven games this season, the 24-year-old out of Fort Worth, TX, has yet to record any receiving stats. It’s possible though with Duvernay’s back injury that Wallace sees more playing time next week as the Ravens travel to Jacksonville for a Sunday Night Football showdown against the Jags. Kickoff is scheduled for 7;20 p.m. CT on NBC.
