Oklahoma State Baseball Thumps Missouri State 13-4

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State tallied four home runs to carry the Cowboys to a 13-4 win over Missouri State Tuesday night at O’Brate Stadium. With the win, OSU improved to 13-8, while the Bears fell to 9-10.

The Cowboys had eight players record a hit, while four players posted multiple RBIs. Three second-inning home runs opened the game up early.

Aidan Meola went 3-for-4 with a home run, his third straight game with a homer, while Ian Daugherty went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs.

The Pokes threw seven different pitchers in the contest. Drew Blake picked up his second win on the season, working a scoreless inning of relief and striking out two batters. Dominick Reid got his first career start on the mound and worked two innings, striking out four and allowing just one run.

The Pokes exploded in the second inning with eight runs on seven hits. Meola and Kollin Ritchie sparked the inning with back-to-back solo home runs, and later in the frame, Daugherty smacked a three-run blast to left field. Ritchie added another RBI on a fielder’s choice, as did Tyler Wulfert, and Carson Benge joined the action with an RBI single as OSU went on to take an 8-1 lead

OSU extended its lead in the third as Zach Ehrhard brought home two runs on a double, and Benge added another on a sac fly that pushed the advantage to 11-1.

Missouri State responded with a singular run in the fifth, followed by two more runs in the sixth to cut their deficit to seven.

OSU’s final run came on a solo home run off the bat of Nolan Schubart, who returned to the lineup after missing the previous 12 games with injury.

The Cowboys return to action Friday when they open their first conference home series of the season against TCU. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
