Oklahoma State Gets Its Heavyweight in Air Force Transfer Wyatt Hendrickson
STILLWATER – The first commitment of the David Taylor era at Oklahoma State is a massive one as Air Force transfer, Wyatt Hendrickson, announced his commitment on Sunday afternoon via his Instagram page.
Hendrickson visited Stillwater on an official visit back in April, before taking trips to Michigan and Minnesota.
One of the best heavyweights in the country, Hendrickson is a two-time All-American, while finishing third at the NCAAs each of the past two seasons and qualifying for nationals in all four years of his collegiate career. He was a two-time Big 12 champion while at the Air Force Academy and has also been tabbed the NCAA Most Dominant Wrestler in two of the past three seasons.
Adding to his impressive resume, Hendrickson has led the nation in falls in each of the past three season, with 53 of his 84 wins coming as pins. Of his 25 wins this past season, Hendrickson finished with 16 pins on the season.
What might be even more impressive is that he won 84 of his last 90 matches at Air Force.
Hendrickson will have one year of eligibility after graduating from the Air Force Academy. He’s been cleared by the United States Air Force to wrestle in his final year of eligibility and as we reported back in April, according to our sources, the USAF agreed to defer his active-duty status as he’ll take graduate-level courses in Stillwater and still participate in military activities, instruction and training though the OSU Air Force ROTC.
