New Coach David Taylor Recruits Another Big Ten All-American to Oklahoma State

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State head wrestling coach David Taylor announced the signing of three-time NCAA qualifier Caleb Fish today, who joins the program with one year of eligibility remaining.

Throughout the past four years at Michigan State, Fish racked up an 83-37 record and was a key piece of the Spartan lineup since taking over the 165-pound starting role as a sophomore. Fish's efforts qualified him for the NCAA Championships in three straight seasons, where he has picked up multiple wins twice. In addition to his extensive postseason experience, Fish boasts a 33-13 dual match record and has beaten 14 ranked wrestlers over the past two seasons. He has also earned bonus points 35 times in his career, over half of which have come by fall.

This past season, Fish posted a 27-11 record and landed the No. 21 seed at the NCAA Championships, where he reached the round of 16 following a pair of wins in the consolation bracket. Additionally, Fish spent much of the regular season ranked inside the top 10 as he beat a career-high eight ranked opponents and had 14 wins with bonus points, including a team-best seven major decisions. As part of his 14-2 dual match record, Fish's best stretch of the season came in January when he beat top-10 wrestlers Garrett Thompson of Ohio and Michigan's Cameron Amine in back-to-back matches.

Fish's deepest run at the NCAA Championships came in 2023 as the 29th-seeded 165-pounder. Fish began his tournament with an 8-4 upset against No. 4 Julian Ramirez of Cornell for the highest-ranked win of his career. He then secured a spot in the quarterfinals with a decision over Pittsburgh's No. 20 Holden Heller, but ultimately fell one win short of All-America status.

Fish continued his excellence in the classroom with Academic All-Big Ten honors all four years at Michigan State and inclusion on the NWCA Scholar All-American team in each of the final three.

Hailing from Eaton Rapids, Michigan, Fish was a two-time state champion at Eaton Rapids High School. He went 46-0 as a senior as part of his incredible 181-15 career record, was a four-time All-State selection and ranked as high as No. 17 at 160 pounds in FloWrestling's High School Rankings.
