Cowgirl Softball’s Martin Named to NCAA Division I Softball Committee
STILLWATER – Jesse Martin, Oklahoma State Senior Associate Athletic Director and Sports Administrator for Cowgirl Softball, has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Softball Committee for a four-year term beginning Sept. 1.
The committee consists of 10 highly-regarded school and conference administrators around the sport of softball that are tasked with seeding, bracketing and managing the Women's College World Series.
"It is an honor to represent Oklahoma State and our softball program by serving on this prestigious committee," Martin said. "I'm excited for the opportunity to serve on a committee that impacts our state and our fellow Oklahomans as Oklahoma City continues to solidify itself as the softball capital of the world."
Since his arrival at Oklahoma State in 2006, Martin has served in various capacities at OSU Athletics. In his current role as the sport administrator for Cowgirl Softball, he's aided the Cowgirls in their rise among the nation's best in the sport, driving numerous fan-based initiatives that have helped the Pokes shatter attendance records each year, including breaking the home attendance record this past season.
During that span, the Cowgirls won the 2022 Big 12 Championship and made six WCWS appearances (including five-straight WCWS berths).
"It's a great honor for Jesse and for Cowgirl Softball," OSU head coach Kenny Gajewski said. "I've always said that Jesse is the best administrator I've ever been around. I truly believe that, even with all of his other duties, he wakes up each day thinking about how he can make Cowgirl Softball better. You don't find that very often."
Prior to his arrival in Stillwater, Martin worked with the Mississippi Sea Wolves in the East Coast Hockey League, where he was named the 2004 ECHL Ticket Executive of the Year and served as general manager in 2005.
Martin is the only representative from the Big 12 Conference on the committee.
