Former Oklahoma State two-way standout player, Carson Benge, has officially signed his contract with the New York Mets. Benge took to his Instagram account to make the announcement.

According to Jim Callis, a senior writer for MLB.com, Benge’s signing bonus is worth $3,997,500. The slot value for Benge’s position is $4.22 million.

“Today is another exciting day as we continue to build our farm system,” said Mets vice president of amateur scouting Kris Gross. “I want to congratulate Carson and his family on all the hard work they have put in to get to this point. Carson is an incredibly athletic player who can impact the game in multiple facets. I look forward to watching him develop as he begins his journey to the major leagues.

The Mets took Benge with the 19th overall pick in the First Round of the 2024 MLB Draft. He’s set to begin his professional career with the Mets down in Port St. Lucie, FL, in the Florida Complex League.

This past season with the Cowboys, Benge proved he was one of the best hitters in college baseball as he slashed .335/.444/.665 with 18 home runs and 64 RBIs. He also showed in the last third of the season he was as good from the mound as he finished the season with a 3.16 ERA with 44 strikeouts and 11 walks.

He finished season as a finalist for both the John Olerun Two-Way Player of the Year Award and the Dick Howser Trophy, which is given to the best player in college baseball.
